Abstract

The representation of teacher diversity provides ample opportunities to advance in equity, educational, inclusive, and cultural context. In Chiapas, educators from underrepresented sectors face significant challenges in gaining recognition and integrating into the academic environment. These challenges often manifest as obstacles that lead to gaps in access and training, hindering their visibility, participation, retention, and acknowledgment within school settings. This article emphasizes the need to raise awareness regarding the importance of addressing the blind spot towards Indigenous teachers through strategies focused on visibility, recruitment, and retention. These strategies aim to foster the creation of inclusive, forward-thinking, and multicultural school environments. By implementing such approaches, the objective is to promote inclusive spaces for educators from underrepresented communities, ensure equitable opportunities, contribute to the elimination of cultural biases, and strengthen the educational framework to reflect and value the cultural richness brought forth by Indigenous teachers in Chiapas. Furthermore, it seeks to highlight the importance of cultivating environments where diverse perspectives and cultural experiences can coexist and converge in a conscious, fair, and professional manner, ultimately achieving a more inclusive, equitable, and humane educational model that addresses the marginalization of Indigenous educators in the region.
