Abstract

This study analyzes the influence of gamification as a didactic strategy to improve mathematical problem solving in elementary school students. The research is based on the need to strengthen mathematical competencies and overcome the limitations of traditional teaching approaches, which tend to focus on the repetition of procedures and the memorization of content. In this context, gamification is proposed as a pedagogical alternative that incorporates elements of games into the educational process with the purpose of increasing motivation, participation and commitment of students to their learning. The research was developed under a quantitative approach with a non-experimental design of descriptive and cross-sectional type. The population consisted of 120 students in the sixth grade of basic education from an educational institution, applying a census sampling. A structured survey with a five-level Likert scale was used for information collection. The results show a positive perception towards gamification. 72% of the students expressed greater motivation to learn mathematics, 71% expressed greater interest in solving problems through game dynamics and 70% considered that these strategies contribute to the development of problem-solving skills. In conclusion, gamification is presented as an effective didactic strategy to strengthen mathematical learning and promote a more participatory and motivating educational environment.
