Abstract

This study focused on gamification as a pedagogical strategy aimed at enhancing motivation and learning in Natural Sciences among upper basic education students. Gamification was understood as an active methodology that incorporates game elements into educational contexts to promote participation, interest, and content comprehension. The general objective was to analyze the impact of gamification as a motivational tool in the learning of Natural Sciences among students in Ecuador. Methodologically, a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental one-group design was adopted, applying a pretest and posttest to a sample of 60 students selected by convenience. Likert-scale instruments were used to measure motivation, and objective tests were applied to assess academic performance. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ motivation, participation, understanding, and satisfaction, reflected in an increase in positive responses in the posttest. It was concluded that gamification had a positive influence on the learning of Natural Sciences, establishing itself as an effective strategy to strengthen the educational process.
